The History of the Bonnie Blue Oak

The Oak in the Parish of Messing was kept by James Hart in 1870 and a Bert Eley ran it for a short time before having to join the army during the WWI.

Claude Rawlinson was also a landlord taking over from his wife Elizabeth's Family.

Some of his children, Ruby, Jack and Cassie were born at The Oak. Harry Wood was also a landlord aswell as a coal merchant and seed dealer - he used The Oak's seller as a seed store.
